The Big Camp Out offers fathers the chance to spend quality one-on-one time with their child in a unique camping experience.
On Saturday 14th October 2017 camp under the stars at Domain Stadium, home of the West Coast Eagles & Fremantle Dockers, and make memories to last a lifetime. The Big Camp Out is a partnership event between The Fathering Project and Outdoors WA during Outdoors October.
"I work as the Manager of Community & Social Development for a large Local Government in my day job and know the importance of family and connecting with children and the weekend I spent with my 10 year old daughter and my friend and his 10 year old daughter, was simply incredible. The look I got from her the day after the camp out was one of just sheer love and joy, she looked at me and me at her a different way; as if our already amazing bond had somehow got even stronger! The whole experience was simply brilliant."

"A simply great concept. The whole experience really brought home the fact that while my daughter and I may have different interests in some respects, the biggest thing we do have in common is that we love doing things TOGETHER. A massive Thank You to The Fathering Project and all of the great volunteers on such an eye-opening and enjoyable experience."
Cameron Millman
"Awesome event and thanks for putting this together. First time to Domain stadium, not one for football, and could not of think of a better way to do it. Although the weather tried, nothing could dampen the life experience my girls and I now share forevermore."
Walter Ramage
"My daughter and I really enjoyed the opportunity to camp together without her brother and Mum , we enjoyed spending some one on one time, my only regret is that next year she'll be to old. Will have to do it on our own somewhere."
Dean Adams
"Getting involved has been a great experience and helps me spend more quality time with my x2 boys. The activities are great and provide me with wonderful lasting memories. Many of my friend can't believe some of the stuff I get up? Its great, bring on the Billy Cart Derby in a couple of week! The Subi Stadium sleep out was awesome."
Rob Wilson
"A great experience to get closer to my son and open up to each other in a unique, safe environment. We both came away from the camp having learnt a lot about each other and motivated to ensure we spend quality time together regularly."
Adam Dagnell
"Thank you to The Fathering Project and to all of the volunteers for making the Big Camp Out an amazing experience. My 8 year old son and I had an AWESOME time (his description and choice of using upper-case letters to make it look even better). I would highly recommend it for a special bonding event. Hopefully it continues as an annual event so that I can experience it again with my other children."
Ben
"I attended with my three boys, they have not stopped talking about it one week after the event. They loved every part and now pushing for more camping activities which we will do. Great to have a shared interest finally and its not Minecraft."
"My children really enjoy the Big Camp Out, its was a great experience and they can't wait to come back again next year."
Arthur Tantiprasut
"It was a well organised weekend with exciting activities and great food. My son and I loved being on Domain Stadium after watching the Dockers and Peel Thunder play games there. My son was so excited after the camp he couldn't wait to get home and tell his mother and school friends. Overall the opportunity to spend good, quality time with my son made the weekend so special and next time my daughter will join us to enjoy the fun."
Leigh Hindle
"I thought the venue was perfect, facilities were excellent, staff & organisers were great and I would recommend to anyone."
Don
"An experience both Dads and kids will never forget."
Mac Hosking
"I really enjoyed the opportunity that the Big Camp Out gave me to spend quality time with my daughter without the distractions that are normally present in everyday life. The Big Camp Out also raised awareness of the importance of the role dads play in the upbringing of children - something that society under-appreciates."
